About this app
Doppelgangers - find your twin is a social messaging app for discovering other users with similar facial features. After creating an account or signing in, you take a selfie and submit it for facial-recognition matching against photos from other users of the service.
Account access and selfie capture
Registration requires a name, email address, and password. The app also supports sign-in with a Facebook or Google account. Its selfie mode is intended to keep you as the only subject in the image, so the source recommends avoiding distractions in the background or around the face.
Facial matching
The app stores the submitted face in its recognition system and compares it with other participating users. Its stated recognition threshold is 60%, allowing matches with people who share at least one facial feature. A result above 60% may reflect similarities such as the nose, eyebrow ridge, or cheekbones, while the source says that a stronger resemblance is more likely at 85% or higher.
Photo controls and visibility
You can adjust the submitted image through the “Edit Settings” option. From there, the camera button in the upper-right corner opens the photo editing function. The app also provides control over who can see your matches, which is useful when you want to limit their visibility.
Using the matching service
Once your selfie has been processed, you can review the people matched with you and take part in the service by helping other users discover similar faces. The application is described as free, and its main workflow consists of registering, taking or adjusting a selfie, and waiting for the facial-recognition comparison.
