SearchFace: search by photo is intended for situations where a person’s name is unknown but a photo is available. Uploading an image gives the app a starting point for looking for matching profiles on VK and Instagram, so the task does not depend on entering a name or manually browsing through profiles.

Search from an available photo

The main workflow centers on uploading a photo rather than typing identifying information. The app analyzes the image and identifies faces in it using its described face recognition technology. It then looks for corresponding profiles on the supported social networks. This can be used when searching for a friend, a public figure, or another person whose name is not remembered, provided that a relevant profile is available on VK or Instagram.

Continue searching when the first result is not enough

SearchFace: search by photo describes its searches as unlimited, allowing users to make repeated attempts instead of working within a stated search quota. That is useful when several photos are available or when the first uploaded image does not produce the expected match. The description does not promise results for people who are absent from, or inactive on, the supported platforms.

Browse without advertising interruptions

The app description also presents the experience as ad-free. In practical terms, this is intended to keep the search and profile-browsing process free from displayed advertising interruptions. A clear interface is described as another part of the app’s approach to making photo-based searching straightforward.
